Job Description

Clinical Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for responding to Behavior Support calls in the Academy and Therapy Department to manage high-intensity problem behavior
  • Responsible for assisting the Director of Academy Student Services in collecting behavior data and ensuring the fidelity of implementation of Behavior Intervention Plans and strategies.
  • Assist in Crisis Intervention and de-escalation of students and processes with students/staff after crisis episodes.
  • Lead training of employees in classroom management, skills, and KTB.
  • Utilize Behavior Skills Training for behavior management strategies when safety is not an immediate concern.
  • Supporting teachers with behavior strategies in conjunction with the Social Emotional Learning Coach
  • Establish appropriate relationships with all staff, families, and students.
  • Consults with the Director of Academy Student Services on behavioral strategies.
  • Have a strong understanding of global policies as outlined in the Global Manual.
  • Adhere to the L.I.F.E. Language policy by using Person First Language, You Can Language, Do Language, Varying Praise, Behavior Specific Praises, and utilizing Declarative Language.
  • Collaboration with all members of the treatment team.
  • Pass all fidelity checklists at 80% or better.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Administrative Duties:

  • Conduct initial observations and collect baseline data on behaviors in the classroom and/or treatment space.
  • Conduct ongoing observations in the classrooms to ensure fidelity of implementation of behavior plans and data collection.
  • Track skill growth and progress each quarter in an excel spreadsheet.
  • Maintain an Outlook Calendar
  • Cooperatively work with all members of a client’s team to best serve the client’s needs.

    Qualifications: The State mandated minimum requirements include, but are not limited to the following:

    • Must have RBT certification as recognized by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).

    • Must be at least 18 years of age.

    • Fingerprinting, fingerprint clearance and disclosure statement regarding criminal record signed by applicant.

    • Provide three (3) references (forms provided).

    • Current CPR and First aid certification (originals must be provided for copy and file).

    • Proof of training and proficiency in A.A.C. Title 6, Chapter 6, Article 9.

    • Minimum 2 years’ experience working with children with developmental disabilities.
    • Understanding of Social Skill Deficits 
    • Understanding of Developmental Milestones 
    • Understanding of Maladaptive Behavior
    • Knowledge, skills, and experience sufficient to carry out the requirements of the position.
    • The applicant must be self-motivated and display exceptional time-management skills.
    • Must be able to safely de-escalate high intensity behaviors that include physical aggression, self-injurious behaviors, property destruction, and elopement at a high speed (including attempts to exit the campus).
    • Must have strong leadership abilities and experience in training others.

    Physical Demands:

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk and be aware of surroundings. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; run; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must be able to safely block instances of physical aggression and other high magnitude behaviors towards them. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee must be able to push items of 50 pounds, such as pushing children who utilize a wheelchair or moving/rearranging furniture. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision.

Skills / Requirements

Special Knowledge & Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Windows; clinical assessment and documentation; strong communication and presentation skills/ability to professionally promote direct support services.
  • Must be a highly organized person able to multi-task different projects and requests.
  • Candidate must be able to prioritize projects and assignments based on dates, deadlines, and priority.
