Health and Safety Administrator

The Health and Safety Administrator is responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and medical well-being of all consumers within the organization. This role involves responding to emergency situations, managing medical documentation, overseeing medication protocols, and supporting specialized health needs such as feeding and bathrooming assistance. The Administrator maintains accurate health records, coordinates with staff and families, and ensures compliance with medical procedures and safety standards. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Responds to medical and safety incidents across campus, including emergency and first aid needs 
  • Maintains accurate, current consumer health records and medical documentation 
  • Manages medication, seizure, and health-related protocols within assigned departments 
  • Supports specialized medical, feeding, bathrooming, and transfer needs of consumers 
  • Communicates health-related information with families, staff, leadership, and external providers 
  • Supports Academy attendance processes related to illness, injury, and health exclusions 
  • Trains and supports staff in medical and health-related procedures 
  • Maintains medical supplies, equipment, and campus health readiness 
  • Upholds professional, ethical, and safety standards in all duties 
  • Completes other related duties as assigned   

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Degree or a certificate from an accredited school, community college, or technical school and have completed all national board certification exams as appropriate. 
  • Experience working with children with developmental disabilities.  
  • Understanding of Social Skill Deficits, Developmental Milestones and Maladaptive Behaviors  
  • Level One Fingerprint clearance card, CPR/First Aid, Article 9 certification, and three letters of recommendation.   
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills required.   

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Strong organizational and time management abilities to balance multiple priorities and deadlines. 
  • Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills for families, staff, and leadership. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and comfort learning new systems such as Bloomz or attendance platforms. 
  • Attention to detail in managing records, documentation, and compliance requirements. 
  • Ability to adapt quickly and provide flexible support across departments as needs change. 
  • Professionalism, discretion, and customer service skills in working with diverse families and staff. 
  • Collaborative problem-solving and teamwork to ensure smooth Academy operations. 

Physical Demands: 

This position requires a combination of routine administrative activity and occasional physical tasks. Employees must be able to: 


  • Sit, communicate, and remain attentive to surroundings for extended periods 
  • Occasionally stand, walk, bend, kneel, or reach as part of daily responsibilities 
  • Lift and move up to 50 pounds when assisting consumers with mobility, transfers, equipment, or program materials 
  • Push or move items up to 50 pounds, such as wheelchairs, furniture, or supplies 
  • Maintain adequate vision (close, distance, and peripheral) to complete job-related tasks safely and effectively 

Additional Requirement: 

All direct service staff may be required to participate in aquatic environments with consumers, including swimming pools and splash pads. Employees must be able to swim, remain comfortable in water settings, and provide direct supervision of consumers during these activities. Accommodation can be discussed with a supervisor if needed.
